Getting Your First Tattoo
A tattoo is permanent, so it is normal to have questions. Here is what to expect at Inked Valour, from the first message to the day itself.
1. Start with an idea
You do not need a finished design. A few reference pictures, the area of the body and the size you have in mind are enough. We work in Polynesian Tribal, black and grey realism, Japanese, custom designs and cover-ups. Look through our gallery to see the style, and use the contact form to send your ideas.
2. Choose a size and book
On the booking page you pick the size that fits your design, then a day and time. The current prices and session lengths are always shown there. A longer or bigger tattoo needs a longer slot, so only times with enough room are offered. You pay a deposit when you book, and the rest is paid on the day.
3. Your deposit and our policies
- The deposit secures your slot and goes towards the price of your tattoo. It is non-refundable.
- You can reschedule once if you give us more than 48 hours notice. Cancelling with less than 48 hours notice means the deposit is lost.
- If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, your appointment may be cancelled.
- If you tap out and stop early for any reason, the full agreed amount for that session is still due.
Please read the full Terms & Conditions before you book. You agree to them when you pay your deposit.
4. Before the day
- You must be 18 or over and bring valid photo ID (a passport, driving licence or other government-issued ID).
- Do not drink alcohol or take drugs in the 24 hours before. We cannot tattoo anyone who appears to be under the influence.
- If you are due to travel or go on holiday within 14 days, wait until after you are back, because the tattoo needs time to heal.
- Eat a proper meal, drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep.
- Wear comfortable clothes that give easy access to the area being tattooed.
- Tell us about any medical conditions, allergies or skin sensitivities. The booking form asks about these.
5. On the day
Arrive about 10 minutes early. Your artist will go through the design with you, place the stencil so you can check the position and size, and start only when you are happy. The studio keeps strict hygiene standards. You can take a break if you need one. Everyone feels pain differently and it depends on the area, so ask us any questions you have.
6. Afterwards
You will be given aftercare instructions for your tattoo. Our aftercare guide has the general advice, and your artist's own instructions come first.
